Muṭahharī’s Vision for Islamic Economics in the Context of the Revolution: Insights from "Darāmadī bar Iqtiṣād Taṭbīqī"

Abstract

Objective: This paper aims to explore Murtaḍā Muṭahharī’s distinctive contributions to Islamic economic thought, with a particular focus on his analysis in Darāmadī bar Iqtiṣād Taṭbīqī. It seeks to clarify how Muṭahharī’s economic philosophy both critiques Western economic schools and articulates a uniquely Islamic approach, especially in the context of the ideological foundations of the Islamic Revolution in Iran.
Method: The study employs a qualitative, analytical approach, drawing on Muṭahharī’s lectures. The research situates Muṭahharī’s economic ideas within the broader intellectual and historical landscape of Iran on the eve of the revolution.
Results: The analysis reveals that Muṭahharī’s economic thought is characterized by a rigorous distinction between economic science and economic doctrine, an emphasis on justice and ethical conduct, and a holistic view of Islam as a comprehensive way of life. He critiques both capitalism and socialism for their inability to realize true justice and instead advocates for an Islamic economic system that balances individual initiative with social responsibility.
Conclusion: Muṭahharī’s vision for Islamic economics remains highly relevant to contemporary debates on social justice, Islamic banking, and the moral foundations of economic policy in Iran and beyond. His work provides a robust intellectual framework for integrating Islamic values with modern economic challenges, ensuring that the pursuit of material well-being in Muslim societies remains inseparable from the quest for justice and spiritual fulfillment.

Abstract [Persian]

هدف: این مقاله با هدف بررسی سهم متمایز شهید مطهری در اندیشه اقتصاد اسلامی، با تأکید ویژه بر تحلیل او در کتاب «مقدمه‌ای بر اقتصاد تطبیقی»، نگاشته شده است. این پژوهش می‌کوشد نشان دهد که چگونه فلسفه اقتصادی مطهری هم مکاتب اقتصادی غرب را نقد می‌کند و هم رویکردی یگانه و اسلامی را به‌ویژه در چارچوب مبانی ایدئولوژیک انقلاب اسلامی ایران مطرح می‌سازد.
روش: این مطالعه با رویکردی کیفی و تحلیلی و با تکیه بر سخنرانی‌های مطهری در کتاب موصوف انجام شده است. پژوهش حاضر، اندیشه‌های اقتصادی شهید مطهری را در بستر گسترده‌تر فکری و تاریخی ایران در آستانه انقلاب مورد بررسی قرار می‌دهد.
تحلیل ما نشان می‌دهد ویژگی اندیشه اقتصادی شهید مطهری با تمایز دقیق میان علم اقتصاد و مکتب اقتصادی، تأکید بر عدالت و اخلاق‌مداری و نگرشی کل‌نگر به اسلام به‌عنوان شیوه‌ای جامع از زندگی برجسته می‌شود. او هم سرمایه‌داری و هم سوسیالیسم را به‌دلیل ناتوانی در تحقق عدالت واقعی نقد می‌کند و در عوض از نظام اقتصادی اسلامی حمایت می‌کند که توازنی میان ابتکار فردی و مسئولیت اجتماعی برقرار می‌سازد.
نتیجه‌گیری: دیدگاه مطهری درباره اقتصاد اسلامی همچنان برای مباحث معاصر پیرامون عدالت اجتماعی، بانکداری اسلامی و مبانی اخلاقی سیاست اقتصادی در ایران و فراتر از آن بسیار کاربرد دارد. آثار او چارچوب فکری محکمی برای ادغام ارزش‌های اسلامی با چالش‌های اقتصادی مدرن فراهم می‌آورد و تضمین می‌کند که پیگیری رفاه مادی در جوامع مسلمان از جست‌وجوی عدالت و کمال معنوی جدا نشدنی باقی بماند.
